City Eclogue

Normally, I don't care too much for long verse or long style poetry. I mean, truth be told, I don't much like poetry at all, but this book struck me in a number of places. I liked the grittiness of it. The concrete details and movement of the words really showed and described a city in various stages. New construction, in the midst of battles of race and equality, senseless kilings, the rare types of beauty that can be found in unlikely places. I love New York City - it has this amzing energy that I've never found anywhere else that I have been and Roberson captured it perfectly.
